Current Classes and Membership Offerings

One-Time Pottery Workshops

Sign up for a one-time pottery workshop and try your hand at different kinds of pottery techniques! Learn the basics of making pottery in a one night pottery wheel workshop, make your own mug using clay slabs in our Make-A-Mug Night class, sign up for fun themed workshops, and more. Your pieces will be ready for pickup a few weeks after your workshop.

Pottery Wheel Workshops allow a maximum of 8 participants. Hand Building Workshops allow a maximum of 10 participants.

Monthly Classes

No experience required. You will be taught based on your needs and skill level. Enrollment in a monthly class also includes open studio membership. Please choose Option 1 or Option 2 from the membership options below when requesting a monthly class.

Wheel Throwing- Class provides instruction and hands-on assistance for students of all levels. Beginner skills such as centering, opening, and basic forms are emphasized for new students. More experienced students learn finesse and new forms, and are encouraged to bring questions and project ideas. Every session includes basic glaze instruction.

This class is a great introduction to the RCC community and is intended to be taken again and again!

Hand Building- In this class you will explore hand-building techniques to create decorative and / or functional ceramic pieces while practicing foundational skills like pinch, coil and slab techniques is emphasized.

Bring a sketch, idea, inspiration or nothing at all, except an open-mind and leave perfectionism at home. This class is meant to be an on-going companion as you continue your clay journey, so feel free to take it as often as you like.

Clay sold separately and includes glazing and firing if part of a class.

Memberships

We have 3 class membership options. Choose your membership option when you sign up for a class or click the link below to sign up for Option 3.

Option 1- Monthly Membership and class-$155 per month

This option includes 4 scheduled weekly classes and unlimited open studio access. Studio hours are Monday - Friday 10am to 8pm, Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 12-5. Practice is important in every art. We encourage you to come in as often as possible.

Option 2- Class only- $145 per month

This option includes 4 scheduled weekly classes and 4 hours of open studio access per week. This option is for those in an adult wheel throwing or hand-building class who have limited schedules to come in to practice.  

Option 3- Open Studio only- $130 per month

This membership is for one month of unlimited studio access during open hours. Members have access to the studio, equipment, and tools. This option is for clay artists who have some experience, and don’t need much, if any, direction. This membership option does not include instruction time.

Any clay purchased outside of the studio must be approved by an RCC employee and does not include firing and glazing fees.  Clay purchased from RCC includes glazing and firing fees. We glaze fire to cone 6, offer raku and pit firing workshops.

Studio hours are Monday through Friday, 10am-8pm, Saturday, 10am-6pm, and Sunday 12pm-5pm.

You also get member pricing for special firings and events and a member commission for work sold in the gallery and gift shop.

Each membership option renews automatically using the card on file. If you wish to cancel or change a membership, you may do so by emailing rivercityclay@gmail.com five business days before your membership is to renew. Memberships are non-refundable.
